It is very fashionable at the moment: filet crochet. Why that happens is always something I wonder about, what exactly is that trigger that makes people embrace it all of the sudden?  It looks like someone starts with it, and other people suddenly think: ‘Oh, but that was fun too, let me do that again’. I really like it when a technique, that seems to be ‘forgotten’ for a while, gets back into the spotlight. I did a lot of filet crochet back in the days, especially large pieces with beautiful motifs. In the pre-internet times, when we just bought a Burda-magazine in the storeRead More →

Today I published a new crochet video. This time it’s about a simple wave pattern that is very suitable for beginners. I use a lot of stitchmarkers for it, so it actually cannot go wrong with this pattern. You hardly have to think doing this. If you consistently use the stitchmarkers as I show you, and count the stitches each time, or as often as you want, then this shouldn’t have to be a problem at all. The used stitches are very simple also: chains, double crochets (US) and double crochet 2 together. That’s all.  I’ve again made a written tutorial with it, you canRead More →

In my previous post I shared the series of video’s for making the honeycomb brioche stitch. But you can also make that stitch in a different way, a way I found in old knitting books. And I like to try out things, so I wanted to see which way I preferred to do this. And I will be honest, I liked the method with the wraps better. But I could do the knit-one-below version, so I decided to record that way of doing this stitch also. Maybe you prefer to do it this way. Could be, couldn’t it? What is this knit-1-below stitch? Well, theRead More →

Hi you all  🙂  I published a video about a yarn review recently, and I mentioned I would also do a knitted scarf with it. I know, on this side of the world where I live spring is already here, but hey, it will be winter again, and maybe you live on the other side of the world, which will make this very timely  🙂  🙂  🙂  So, here it is: the video’s I made for it, a tutorial of the honeycomb brioche stitch that I used for it, and the accompanying page here on the website, in case you like to have a writtenRead More →

Do you also wonder sometimes how the color changes go in a ball of yarn with multiple colors? I do! Frequently! You can see these beautiful colors on top and at the bottom of the ball, but how changes one color into the next? Does it go gradually? Or just a big jump from one color into another? It’s not always clear. If you’re lucky there’s a picture on the band of the ball of a project that’s made with the specific yarn, so you can have an idea. And we’re lucky to have the internet nowadays, where you can perhaps find something, but it’sRead More →

Hi, I’m back! Life happened, so the website and the video’s had to wait. But today I published 2 video’s about crocheted borders. The tutorials were on the website already (here for slip stitches, here and here for single crochets (US term)), but the video’s are ready now too. In these tutorials I go into detail about how to make the side and the corners really nice, and how to do these sides so that you get the same number of stitches on each side. This is so handy when attaching pieces together later! And really supersimple! I show again how to do the invisible finishing. SoRead More →

I’ve promised a couple of times that it would come, and here it is! The video on how to weave a triangle! You may have already seen the tutorial I did about it on this website (see here). It is so easy to do. And it makes it possible to do so much more projects! I love triangular shawls, and you can do that by making squares together with triangular parts. You could even do just triangular shapes, and piece them together, just like you only had a small tri-loom! That could really give a fun effect! So, give that a try also. So, hereRead More →

You have these days, that you want to do something really nice. Because the christmas tree and all the other christmas decorations are gone, so the living room just looks so… you know, so… normal…. The weather is bad, it’s raining, it’s cold, no sunshine… So, time to compensate . Why not take a look at your yarn stash, that always makes me very happy , and find that beautiful yarn you once bought, and didn’t know what to do with. Well, I have a great idea here! Make a nice warm shawl, to cuddle up with, to wear when you really have to goRead More →

I promised I would publish this video soon, so here it is: part 2 of working with finer yarns, going into detail on doing a crochet border. Of course you could decide to just take the weave of the loom without a crochet border, but if you decide to do one, here are 2 tricks to help you do that. You now have 2 threads around each nail, so you have to handle that in a certain way. It also depends on which side you’re working, so I show you how to deal with both situations. Wishing you again fun watching this!Read More →
